what is a standard deal for poster art?

I've been doing tour art & show poster's in australia for while which are just payed by the promoter's or the bands upfront (all offset) but i'm wanting to get into screen printed poster's, dealing directly with bands etc... particularly overseas bands touring down here, how does it work etc... ie. do i go 50/50 with the band on the profit's, the promoter get's $1 a poster or something?

can someone please explain to me how this works and what is the basic kind of deal?
