This situation really requires more posters, and I think that you, Buddy Lee are the right man for the job. I can see it now. Tijauna Bibles vs. City Council in a caged match to the death.

that's right amigo, throw on my mask, arm myself with a staplegun and all of my posters to date, head down to the meeting, and get a Special Addendum added to the new anti-postering bylaw:

Section 32a pt 4) Anyone caught taking down Buddy Lee Roth's posters risks receiving his dreaded finishing hold, The Nutty Buddy. The City Of Toronto will not be held responsible for the paralyzing damage inflicted by this fearsome manoeuvre.

it's true - to me, the real problem here in town is DEFINITELY the corporate advertising, not us gig poster people. for whole city blocks, where construction is under way, there are corporate advertising posters. i can't poster there, because the construction companies are in cahoots with the corp. ad people, getting kickbacks, and making sure that 'our' posters are immediately taken down. they should limit the corp. ads to no more than 4 in a row or something, instead of 4 high by 60 long, for whole blocks! they're taking me down with their ship, on a voyage i don't want to take...

i'd say that's where i, and many other poster people and bands here in toronto, seem to be headed...

...but i must say, the idea of being a poster outlaw is intriguing, especially since i already look like one when i poster, cuz i wear my wrestling mask while 'perpetrating my crimes'...here's to getting arrested! Postering Is Not A Crime!

I have this hilarious image of you in a wrestling mask and unitard posting up all your posters. You need a large breasted, sequined dress "assistant" to carry your poster cache, extra clips of staples etc....

BTW - Thought you might like to check out this article about the demise of the poster on the strip in Austin:

in mtl we have a similar deal. the only place that is legal to poster are on the construction walls yet the corporate postering companies take that as 'their turf'...
it's really sad too cause it's all punk kids and artists working there but u see them getting all pumped up and ripping down show posters to put up caramilk and fido posters.
and of course the city loves them (and don't hand out the fines all us diyers get) cuz their big glossy adds are "beautifull' while my 5 color screenprints are an 'eyesore' and 'grafitti'..
city hall actually think corporate advertising beautifys the landscape.. or at least that's what they tell the papers.
