    Default Concerning source images.

    sometimes you stumble upon real cool pictures you'd like to use in your art. you modify it with some filters and make a poster out of it.
    the original photographer sees it. what can he do?

    Hey man, look through the threads... this has been discussed numerous times, on loads of different levels. Sorry I cant link up a thread for you to start on, but just browse the anything goes thread, you'll find stuff Im sure.

    i'm trying to get out of the "found art" mentality. i like the look of a lot of old pics, etc...but when it comes right down to it, you're stealing... and if that piece is reproduced and sold or published, you are putting yourself at risk.

    however, if you're just making 11x17 xerox flyers for a punk show, i wouldn't sweat it...

    but-if you make money off of it, look out.

    Yep - in court - the question is whether or not you made a profit off of it. Why Kazaa and other shareware application are under fire - but can't do anything to the hoarding downloader.

    I think you're ok if the picture was printed in 1923 or earlier.
