artist's likeness (dammit)

so we've been doing all the promotional graphics for this really big concert with this really big name rapper, and we had this beautiful ad/poster all done and ready to go, we've been working nonstop for this job early mornings and late nights for 5 days, cause the turnaround is crazy tight, approved all around as far as we knew.. but it's got a painting/illustration of the rapper in it, and apparently his people just saw it (we are working with the concert promotion/venue people, not the artists) and said we have to remove the illustration and use one of the pre-approved rapper photos.

so, of course, we are now doing a poster with NO imagery of the rapper at all, because we sure as hell aren't using their cheesy ass photos. and it has to be done and re-approved in like 3 hours. what the fuck? anyone else ever have this problem?
