Licencing Artwork to companies...

I have been approached by a company looking at the possibility of licencing some designs for me for a range of apparel. It is a US company, and they seem to be pretty well sorted, and by the looks of things have pretty good distibution...... but, due to the fact i'm not in the US, it might be good for anyone with a bit more experience to have a quick check. It would be great to find others who have perhaps done work for the same firm, so i know what to expect, or wether to give them a miss.
I don't want to blab the name about, but i'm really looking for some guidence from folks who have done this sort of thing before, because i sure as shit haven't. I know that there are plenty of people on here who could be quite useful.
Anyone willing to give me a few pointers, please PM me......

We have a licensing deal that covers every piece of poster art we create. It is with a US clothing company. We are creating our own line with them.

Which company is it and have you seen the contract yet. We had to get a lawyer and I'm glad we did. They weren't trying to screw us or anything it's just that unless you are doing work for hire you need to really have some specific wording and cover yourself.

I have seen the handbook before, but it seems very much geared toward the American market, but you are probably right, it's probably worth getting hold of.....

thats why I suggested it... Since you are across the Phatlantic Ocean from your prospective client- you want to know what laws and average rates govern thier practices.. Im sure you know yours! haha

if they jerk you around- hire Richie as a hitman and wait....

Yeah, it will most likely come in handy in the future..... Does it mention about charging twice as much for work due to the shitty exchange rate from $$$$ to ££££....
