    Default Illegal Art: The Show

Here is a link to a story about an upcoming art show. The works all contain "sampled" imagery...much like many gig posters.

How about the REAL illegal art, like Bloomberg following up Giuliani's draconain practice of arresting street artists & disappearing their riginal works, even after artist groups triumphed in the Supreme Court? Between that, the Brooklyn Museum controversies, et al,... seems like all the art in NYC is illegal,... unless its fro Disney or Warner Bros,...

....you knew I was going there tho, Jeff,...

sounds great in theory. i'd have liked to see the visuals that accompany. but i'm all about 'sampling'. 'cos we're a sample-based culture.

well i haven't seen the art in the show but i will say this
corporations are taking over the world
it's getting near impossible to gothru a day where you are not faced but countless ads
on tv, on the internet, radio, phone, mailed to you, in toilet stall, billboards, painted on buildings

the same goes for pop music
u leave the huose u hear it
on the subway, at the copy shop, grocery store ect
tadre marked items are a huge part of our lives, even for those who try to avoid them
just the other day at the druggist's i saw a mcdonalds playset for babies.
soft fuxzzy big macs and fries for your infant to chew on and be bradded by
now it's all these copyrighted images are at every level of public and private space who should we be forbiden to reat to them?

as artists we react to all kinds of stuff around us some out of social comentary, some out of irony and some out of personal comment
i think if these corporations are gonning to froce thier icons and logos on pretty much all levels, we should have the rifght to take these images and filter them thru our own experiences

get disscussion going instead of being a silent consumer.
