    Default usage of album artwork

I recently got commissioned to do album art for a band and I told them before I sent them the final files I told them they would have to sign off on a contract. They wrote back asking if it was okay if they incorporated some of the artwork into their website...which was not initially discussed. What should I do?

any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

If it's promo-only for their website, I would have them give you a credit next to the art. If it's more than that, discuss payment.

If they are a smaller band on an indy label, i would say let them use it with a credit.

usually I would assume that using the cover on the band's website is going to happen. just assume this is going to happen from now on in the future.

but of course, if "incorporated some of the artwork into their website" means making the whole site themed around the artwork, then you should try to get them to pay you more to design the whole site for em.

Art for a cd can and will appear EVERYWHERE, on Amazon, in Tower ads, on fan sites.... expect no extra compensation for this.

I understand that the image of the cd must be used. My concern was with them modifying any art and incorporating it into their own design. It is probably not that big of a deal but I wondered what was standard practice. Thanks for all of your responses.
