godaddy is cheap and good for the average site. Lunar Pages http://www.lunarpages.com/?id=southshoregraphics is pretty amazing though. Easy install forums, databases, forms, cpanel, and phone support. A name and a year hosting under a hundred bucks.

host department is good.
There are a lot of good hosting companies. A domain registrar.. is pretty straight forward... you cand find them for pretty cheap.

The domain registry I swear by is Directnic.com--during Hurricane Katrina, they holed up in their offices with diesel generators to keep everything online. They kept a blog--it was insane. They are dedicated.
