what i have done, and i don't consider this bootlegging, is a friend of mine LOVED this band. so i made a 'gigposteresque' poster/art piece for her (one of a kind), just for her.... had the band name and image on there.

though, there's some copyright infringement involved in what i did, since it was a gift for a friend, and i didnt' make copies to sell, i didn't worry about it.

    another example:

my nephew wants me to draw him a picture of a star wars character. that's no big deal. i'll draw it, frame it, and he'll hang it on his wall.

but if i made copies of it, or prints and sold them...well, that's just asking for trouble.

Put it this way: if you make money off someone's name it's not legal. Unless you get their permission.

Mick, do a search on this topic: The site has just undergone a change, & some thrads may have been deleted, but topics like this have been debated to an nth degree in forums stretching back four years & including some of the top names in the rock art business,... all you'll need to find concerning any legal issues you'll encounter have been pretty clearly spelled out,...
