Default Did you call the promoter or the club?

I know this is probably a rookie question but I have been curious what the best route to take is. If any of you seasoned vets have any stories or advice on how to go about it I'd love to know.

Defintely the band unless its a big club that could have a problem with it.

Personal example: I made a poster for the Yeah Yeah Yeah's when they played the Filmore. Fortunatly I thought to take "Filmore" off the poster before asking the venue (while sifting through their beurocricy) where to set up my YYY's merch. If I hadn't, they would have said no as their club is trademarked and they're assholes. It all worked out in the end (except they took some amazing % of my sales).

Other than that, I have never asked the club and just told them I was with the band and their merch. Obviously you work out with the band how you plan on selling your posters, and furthermore, have them throw you on the guestlist.

    from sfgate.com, today:

Bill Graham Presents laid off 15 employees this week, a nearly 17 percent reduction of the company's 90-person workforce.

Among several veteran BGP employees let go was graphic artist Arlene Owseichik, who supervised the production of more than 1,000 concert posters during her 19 years with the company. Although she said she was "flabbergasted" at the news, Owseichik also noted that she was the only creative director working at any of the Clear Channel concert companies. "I'm grateful for as long a ride as I had," she said.

The layoffs were part of "a national workforce reduction at Clear Channel Entertainment," the corporate owners of the San Francisco concert production firm, said Bill Graham Presents President Lee Smith.
