Default fee for a magazine coverart. HELP!

Hi guys.
We've been asking for working on the cover art of a really important international magazine.
We really have no idea how much to ask them for a supercool malleusdelic artwork. Any help would be really appreciated.
We've to answer them tomorrow morning...
We've in our heads some ideas, but we don't know if it's too much or not.
So, please, tell us something from your experiences!
Thanks thanks thanks

I supposed copyright will remain to the magazine.
I'm sure they'll start in saying it's a good way to make our name goes around the world and things like that to ask them to work quite for free, it's a bad common thing today...

That's what they always say.
Then it'll be really good for YOU when they put it on t-shirts, hats, etc.
It's their magazine. I'm really just guessing at 4-5, but I'm sure others will
put in their two cents.

Well, it'd be GOOD for me, but not for living
I was thinking about 2000/3000 Euros.
But If it was for me i'd ask more, i'm sure that if they'll use the image for tees and some sort of merch they'll do lots of money.
But i'm not sure they'll do...
