on ebay (if you click the 'extra' search with the little box) there's a strange one that pops up. it's a t-shirt with one of my posters printed on it without my permission or anything. the seller bought it in germany where some guy was selling them at a club. it's for and old estrus release by the trashwomen. the poster was a de-construction of a ray dennis steckler movie ad ('incredibly strange creatures...') that i tore all apart and and re-built as an ad for the trashwomen. the band specialized in doing trashmen covers - even their logo was a rip-off of the trashmen logo.
ok, here's my question: who is being ripped off here? any ideas? |

i was hoping to start a thread about the very strangeness of 'appropriation'. the very fact that this little scenario exists is like a maze of self-contradiction. just look how many 'flip=flops' of usage and satire and violation are involed. it's fascinating.
at least i think so. |

i have no intention of pursuing this. i just think it's an interesting topic for dicussion.
perhaps i should change the subjct title of the thread. it now seems misleading. |

Its funny because i was just informed the other day that Vespa scooters is using my image from my Who poster on their T- Shirts..
this poster here http://gigposters.com/posters.php?poster=2387 I drew this image from looking at the Quadrophenia album cover.. I can't remember who the photographer was but my image was drawn not photocopied.. I'm still trying to decide if I should do anything..Maybe I can get a free scooter.. |

chuckles -
exposure (particularly that kind) ain't worth squat and it ususally works against you. that's just been my experience. |
