    Default Amending a Registered Trademark

Hi guys - probably some dumb questions to follow which I think I already know all the answers to but just want them clarified if that's okay:

    1) I've been asked to 'make some changes' to a recognised registered trademark (a sporting tournament) for my companies team to use to attract sponsors for their team in another sporting tournament (same sport).

    2) This logo is extremely well known in this sport and I've already expressed my concerns that basically if they enter a tournament, using a ripped off but amended version of the logo as their own they're likely to get their asses handed to them - this hasn't deterred them but I pretty sure it should have?

    3) - Also what is my role as the 'designer' (at least the moneky who's making the amendments) could/would I get in trouble about this, or would it be the person who's requested that I do it, despite my reccomendation that we don't go down this route? I've already created a different, but similar logo from scratch which would be fine to use but they want to go with the amendments on a more established logo.

    Cheers in advance!

Are you making the changes as part of an assignment at work or are you sort of doing it in your free time? If it's part of your job I would think any legal issues would fall on the company.
