    Default Garage Collective: Exhibition Pics

August 2007 marks 12 months since I set up a design and screenprint studio in my garage, here in Christchurch, New Zealand. I was fortunate enough to score some gallery space to exhibit everything I had done the last year! So here are the pics!

I was a bit hesitant to set up these posters as 'art', so I decided to arrange the work in a way which would closely resemble their arrangement in a street situation. I would have wheat pasted them, but these were my folio prints and I had very few of them left. So, the first job was to arrange them all on the floor....thanks to Judith and Tomison from HSP for their help in this, as it took the better part of the day and would have taken much much longer without them.

Finally got them all to fit the measured space, which was a mission considering the many sizes present. Judith having a breather.....

Cool, so then came the task of pinning the posters up. The pins were shit, they kept bending and were a total pain in the ass, and I'm also quite short and not the best up ladders....but by the end of day one we were a 1/4 of the way through.

Sweet, day two involved more pins, ladders and energy drinks. Finally got it all up by the end of the day. No pics here, too busy trying to get it done!

Day 3: the opening. It was super cool! Heaps of good beer, and my band mates spinning surf and lo-fi garage records made for a great night!

Thanks to everyone who came! Bring on year number 2.

"Every single Crosshair poster I've ever seen is almost exactly the same. Do these guys even have a bit of creativity in them? I mean, come one - shitty old building pics photoshopped with text over them. Pretty pathetic to say the least."

"it just seems like so little effort is put into creating this? am i missing something?"

nice on the multiple prints on display. makes a genuine gigposter effect that galleries can sometimes lose.
