    Default a fine art inspiration

hi all. i wanted to share with you the work of a "fine" artist named John Hoyt from alberta. anyone who reads and likes juxtapoz might get a kick out of his work. he does incredibley detailed surrealistic twisted christian and alternative religious iconography. i wish i could post more of his recent images here. he's got a nice painting of the madonna with bleeding eyes holding ganesh with mexican day of the dead skull icons, another called "veronica decides to die" with some really tripped out zombie scenery, and another with some subtle pornography and the pope in a teevee. sure you say, "the standard" wacked out christian iconography that alot of people are into. but the thing about this guy, and the thing that makes his stuff really genuine is that not only are his paintings technically outstanding, he's been teaching at a christian college for the last 20 years! he lives in a very small town in northern alberta. he's truly making this stuff for real, if you know what i mean.

these are pretty tame examples but his more blatant stuff has ruffled a few feathers locally. like images of hanging meat, hanging men, naked fat dudes in churches, tarot cards. but not at all schlocky. he's a very interesting man.
