This month’s featured Poster artist is John Vogl.
John Vogl runs the Bungaloo, a small illustration and design outfit, all by his lonesome, from his sunny home in Denver, Colorado. All of his work is illustrated by hand, with love, care, and tears. His prints are an exploration if thoughts, deep and shallow, deliberate and spontaneous. He tends to work within a muted palate, giving my work an undefined aged/vintage feel, that, somehow, feels fresh at the same time.
The Maker’s Dozen is based off the Baker’s Dozen (a baked batch of goods composed of 13 components). Working from all different media, these Maker’s of art are:
Beth Myrick – Spray paint transfers of animals on handmade wood-cuts
Jeff Sheridan –News media cartoonist, illustrative works on paper
Jeremy Okai-Davis – Figurative painter (ala Chuck Close), oil and acrylic on wood and canvas
John Kelting – Instinctual pop culture painter; acrylic works of icons on canvas
Joshua Abraham – Abstract architectural constructs; works on multi-media
Lea Barozzi – Designer/painter; fine figurative pop surreal paintings
Mark Zimmerman - Multi-media constructionist; working in collage and layered found imagery
Mike Suckocki – Glass works, sculptural and functional (collab with EMEK)
Raithon Clay – Multi media abstract resin constructs
Robin Sandler – Pop art paintings; reminiscent of comics and advertising
Sam Roloff – Impressionist figurative and abstracts; works in oil on canvas and wood
Terra DeHart – Multi-media painter, edgy illustration and painterly abstraction
Thadeus Lutz – Sculptor; making musical instruments from solid steel axes and tools
Each artist has made 10 works for this show, presenting 13 mini-feature shows all together at once, all original “makers” of their craft, this Dozen is experimental, unique and singular in their each of their focused and individualistic artistic visions.

Peoples Art of Portland Gallery has been active since November 2010. It is a project of gallery spaces gifted to the curators from GGP, the management company for Pioneer Place Mall. Since its inception, the galleries have been well traveled, showing 1000’s of Portland artists in a very unique and professional setting. Annual shows include “The Love of Portland”, “The Big 200” and resident international poster artist, EMEK. We love the mall and its accessibility to anyone the open market place allows. Art doesn’t have to be hard to see, or backed by white walls, it can be simple in its beauty and cultural appeal – its as easy as walking into a mall.
