If you're in charleston the weekend of April 16th, stop by and check out the latest show at 16 Penny Gallery. Lots of local artists displaying original pieces based on their favorite lyric:

On Friday, April 16th, 2010, 16 Penny Gallery will be hosting "The Lyric Show", an art opening and exhibition inside 52.5 Records, at 561 King Street, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. This event is free of charge and open to the public. The exhibition will run through mid-May 2010.

To illustrate how music can be a powerful muse, artists were asked to create a piece of artwork based on a song lyric that affects them. Because of the wide variety of artists involved, artwork on exhibit will include photography, illustration, collage, sculpture, and canvas pieces.

Artists include Seth Corts, Caleigh Bird Goold, Tina Christopholis,
Phillip Hyman, Meta Sapient, Hashenda Baxter, Brian Bustos, Constantine O'Donald, Chuck Keppler, Twasted Graffiti, Tim Showers, Angie Brown, Proton, Christina Rodino, Erin Eckman, Matthew Foreman, John Pundt, Justin Cammer, Damian Kessler, Tami Boyce, Paula Woodsworth and Nina Rego. More artists are expected to be added shortly.

All of the pieces in the exhibition will be available for purchase, and the artists will be on hand the night of the opening to represent their work.
