"i've been to europe" - new factual paintings by jay ryan @ rotofugi, chicago

it's time for something different. as you know, i've been traveling a lot recently, and i wanted to share some of what i've learned about such strange and foreign places as belgium and southwestern england. i've been working on a whole pile of paintings which accurately depict some of the remarkable customs and interesting inhabitants of these alien lands.

the show opens friday january 29th, from 7 to 10pm. the show will remain hung until february 14th, 2010. rotofugi is located at 1955 west chicago avenue, just east of damen, in chicago. the phone number there is 866-953-9229. awesome hot coffee will be generously provided by metropolis coffee roasters.

fwiw, i am planning to go to the barber to get my hair cut for only the third time in 20 years, literally. i know you'd never guess, but i'm a do-it-yourselfer.

i didn't invent painting on doors. i just had to get rid of a bunch of doors. maybe you have a door you need to get rid of, johnny. that's fine with me.

i don't know, if i'm going to spend my hard earned money on art i expect the artist to take the effort and find a canvas. not just paint on a door, a shoe , or a toaster because it's handy.
