I am actually quite serious... and fully aware that the European artists might get upset about my rant.... but they need to understand that I want them to be pissed off and then hopefully I can get a reaction.... A reaction that hopefully can explain WHY the situation is what it is

Heh, I thought so, last time you posted on here about Europeans I got sucked in. I like your approach. Uk is full in representing, not too sure about other countries, including your fellow country.

Words of wisdom - a poster is the simplest idea ( public advert) and yet theres a million douches needing to yap yap yap, endlessly in some weird need to enobble their very douchisityttitty - KOZIK
good question...
is registration still open?

- any idea WHY? what is the difference here?
- how much does it cost for an artist like you to attend Hamburg?
- what needs to happen or change for europeans to get interested, to get involved and to get organized and do this their way?
- Is there a European network that is tackling this issue? A lot of US artists took chances when they did their Flatstock and I am sure a bunch of them never made any realy money in the beginning....
Seriously... start this discussion right now because if you guys don't you will end up with a huge gap between the European and US artists... one that will only grow wider ... and before you know it you will face a situation where the Americans will have an infrastructure for themselves on your grounds making it even harder to succeed ... turning into a vicious cycle
I usually talk out of my ass but I hope the Europeans start to get vocal here... and I have some sort of a response to your comments about not being able to make money but want to hold off on that until some others (euros) have chimed in

I think you have avery valid point about the American artists building up an infrastructure, that we don't have here. It's a tricky one, and it's not something that has any easy, or indeed quick answers. The poster scene in the US, has obviously been building up and establishing itself in the US for a long time.
I've not really got time to type up a vast response at the moment, but i will say that you have some good points, that do need to be addressed.
As for that money thing, it really is dependant of each individual case. Personally, i work for myself, the cost of attending Flatstock is a pretty big deal when i have to wonder where the next payday is comming from. I'm pretty sure there will be other people who are in a simlar situation, who cannot justify that sort of expence. Without knowing peoples spacific situation it's pretty difficult to comment of their decission to attend or not. Personally i'm going and hoping to cover costs and hopefully not lose out too much, and get a few days away with some good friends.
I'm rambling, and i'm tired.
I forgot : it would cost me a LOT to go there and I wouldn't get my money back. I know it. So flatstock IS NOT the only way to promote rock posters, for us, euros. We work another way because europe IS NOT USA. That's all.
