A few more words of advice:

CALL your bank/debit card/credit card company and tell them you will be traveling. Otherwise, you're likely to have a hold put on it for suspicious activity. This has happened to me in the states and just happened to me here.

If you're really paranoid, you can also notify your local embassy you will be traveling and in case of a terrorist attack or natural disaster the gubmint will know where you are.

Smart-phones: delete apps that push information to you like wordwithfriends and instagram. They are constantly sending information and if you do have to turn on your data-roaming you don't want to be wasting your precious mb's on useless info like that.

Pro-tip - do all of the google map directions you think you will need before you leave, screen-cap those bizatches and upload them to your phone's photo album.
