Any Ideas for cheap rooms this late in the game?

Haven't heard from my Austin connection and think we might have to scramble to find a place to crash. Any ideas? We aren't apposed to staying outside of Austin renting and driving in each day. No idea, but fuck do people get rich off the SXSW last minute accommodation needs? Are all the people that go filthy rich? As it is my first time to Austin, I feel I am already failing. We are trying to stay below $1000 for room and car rental if need be. March 10th-18th.

Apparently my ability to send emails is lacking. Just heard from my Austin connection and we do still have a place to stay.

Conversely, I use the shit out of a rental car in Austin the past 2 years that I've rented one. I love being able to sprint away and do stuff not on Red River at will and not worry about how to get around.

I think it just depends on what direction you think you might go. Into or away from the fireball of humanity.

Having done the kabillion cab rides, this is confirmed true. Also, when you "pull a Glancey" and accidentally leave your wallet in the transpo vehicle of choice, when it's a rental your panic/freakout/how will i get on a plane back home without ID meltdowns won't be nearly as complete. Or tearful.

And, at least with a designated driver for the night, you know they're not drunk. I can't say the same for cabbies, other than the amazing Ben.

I think parking AT the convention center has been $10 per day for like, ever. Hopefully that's still the price.

In 2009...tryin to get around, in a car, as the day went on became difficult....I had no problem finding public parking early(9-11ish)...relatively close...tho things have prob changed
