Default Pdf fonts

Is there a way to open and save a PDF file so it will convert the fonts to outlines?

I have a file that will open fine as a PDF in Adobe Actrobat. When I try to open that same file in Illustrator it looks for fonts I don't have. I need to make changes to the file in illustrator

Just open the PDF in Photoshop. If the fonts are embedded in the PDf it should open in Illustrator. I guess iam not understanding what you want to do. Could you explain more? I work with PDFs all day long and also Illustrator and photoshop.

I have file that I open in Acrobat and it opens fine. I thought saving it in acrobat would convert the fonts to outlines. When I try to open the same file in illustrator it tell that I need the fonts (which I don't have) so it defaults to other fonts.

You've got some liscensing restriction embedded in the pdf that will let it display in Acrobat, but you have to have the specific font actually on your computer to touch it with illustrator.

Maybe one of the links the others posted above will be of help.
