my point was he seemed happy with his work in PS. i was wondering why he wanted to redo it in illustrator.
I was talking about a bitmap or continous tone image. Who know's, maybe he wants to do a CNC cut of his art on wood or metal

instead of guassian blur then levels, the median filter gets the results you're after in one step, with a live adjustment. it smooths over the little bits.

i have been tracing sketches in AI since 1988. Now on CS4. i dont mess with the scans much in PS. just make them high contrast. then i use the pen tool in AI manually. do the ink work in AI because its changeable.

So a bitmap tif. Do I put the image to bitmap then save as a.tiff? cause when I turn my image to bitmap it gets all raggedy....

I know, it's a car t-shirt, but that's what I do. This is a great tutorial on illy brushes, though: Illustrator Brushes Tutorial | Motorburg.com

Depending on the job, I either scan my sketch and go straight in and vectorize it, or ink it, clean it up with levels/curves in PS, and then livetrace it.
