Fabio, anything you do in Illustrator is VECTOR. Brushes, Pen tool, live trace, anything short of some of the filters is all going to be produced as a vector. Illustrator is a vector based program. Are you wanting a texture to your lines or a variable line weight?

I do all of those things depending on what needs to be done. I have over 300 images to work on a year and there is no standard trick to them all.

Do you select all the channels or do you work in grayscale?
Don't you create vectors to output the films?
Do you ink them first?

I can't name one time I was happy when trying to streamline/livetrace an ink drawing without spending a shitload of time trying to clean it up first. You're honestly better off placing the sketch in and drawing directly over it.
I do like to color in illustrator though. You can get some decent results making your own art brushes that can mimic to an extent varying pen/brush pressure.

You can make a variable line weight by creating art brushes.
