yep yep, thats right. Also if you place the tiff is placed in Freehand or Illustrator you can add color to the tiff via those programs. That way you retain nice crispy haltones.Originally Posted by Dusty!
VanDer Lee does things PS half toning can't even come close to doing (like inverting light on black) plus you can make your halftones ANY shape, not just circles. Only for PC though, Photoshop plugins and filters - Home / Plug-ins / Halftone - Make any type of halftone dither you can think of. Use custom shapes, twist and turn dot layout. All with top quality.
Photoshop bitmap halftones suck (whether you use round or ellipse if you zoom in you still get square dots), the color halftone feature is decent since it actually gives you round dots (in grayscale mode) problem is you can't dial in the ppi you want you just have to eye it...if you want good dots for output you need a RIP I use ghostscript cause its free and does a decent job.
