as a sticker printer i say good riddance to all that old school crap.

as a poster printer i did really like having fun with zip tone, rub on letters, rubylith, and darkroom effects.

    maybe it's just me, but...

take a sheet of paper. "grunge" it up. scan it. print it. laugh at all the people dreaming they still worked in the stone-age.

I agree. I wish I could have been around when it was done the analog way. Maybe I would actually have access to some of that equipment. But I don't and won't.

    Graphic Albini-ism.

If all the analog fetishists with broad opinions about the inherent superiority of pre-technological means, actually produced art or music at a level where the difference could be discerned and let alone make a difference, we'd be in a cultural renaissance.

Alone time ago back in 85-86 or so. I was trying to make a photo I took look like "The Smiths - The Queen is Dead" Album cover.

I did this with a stat camera but I think you can still do this with a sanner and output to film. After trying all kind of different ways, (exposures) I still was way off with it looking anything close to the photo of the album cover.

I final started making Xerox copies at different shades until I found something I liked. Then I made a halftone of the Xerox instead of the original photo and It looked alot like what I was trying for.

PS: An easy one is to make it a halftone (bitmap) 20% of final output then blow that up to 100%. Use a low dot size like 20 LPI or so

They have a imagesetter output service for anyone taking a printmaking class at Parsons. Not that that's a help here. Funny, after not having thought much about Kodalith until this thread I just had a call from a friend asking if I knew where to get some.
