If you can spot the difference then it becomes apparent. Different tools leave a different mark. One could have this discussion about stone lithography vs plate, copper etching vs zinc, or end-grain wood engraving vs lino.

Hell, I have to explain often enough why I like screen printed images over digitally output. 99% of the people I know couldn't identify the difference between a giclee and a screen print, but 99% of the people here could. I'm not knocking the pure digital way either. I spend far too much time in photoshop to be doing that.

When you all talk about printing out a halftone then xeroxing it, what do you mean? Exactly that?

And by xerox, do you mean the brand xerox or any copier? I'm guessing any copier would work. I guess I can just try crumpling up/distressing the halftone printout and then messing with the settings on the copier and then copying it and then scanning it back into the computer.

Also, if I have another question, should I start a new thread or fire away in here?

I think we're all talking about one of these when we're talking xerox. Am I right guys?

Marmosets are the only "real" way to do this.

I can't believe you guys are talking halftones when 20 minutes of the finest hockey being played in the world just took place.

    1-1 after 1.

and Dan, we bought kayaks today and paddled out to the wrecks. they are awesome up close, you can go right inside some of the hulls at high tide. Perfect location for a zombie movie. Halftones? Scan in the coating of barnacles and rust, you got grunge texture for the next 50 posters. au natural.

I don't think "organic" is the correct word. At least, that is not what I am trying to achieve. I just want something to look imperfect.

I just meant making a copy from a copy machine. Most have a setting that will let you adjust the copy to either make the copy printed lighter or darker.
