do hp printers support roll printing?

howdy all,

lookin at gettin a new printer. my epson 1280 finally took a d on me. trying to keep it pretty cheap, but looking for at least 13x19 printing ability.

so far it comes down to either the

epson stylus photo R1900



or hp photosmart B8550 photo printer.


the epson states that it supports roll printing, while the hp says it will do up to 13x44, but doesn't mention anything about a roll.

QUESTION: does anyone know if the hp has a roll option?

both printers look great to me, but that roll option is a deal breaker.

and if anyone has a better suggestion for printers that's not too much more $ i'd love to hear about it.

if it does not have motorized roll feeding it will most likely not print films in reg.

I'm pretty sure the epson is just convenient storage for the 44" it can print. I think you can't print 13"x72" just because of the roll holder.

I could be wrong, I don't own a 1900.

I've never had an HP that I liked. Epson makes some great printers. I have 3 at work. At home I have a Cannon and I'm pretty impressed with it.

i was interested in a cannon as well, but their website says they only have 2 semi-professional printers. does anyone else have a cannon? what model?

I talked with a professional digital printer who owns an HP large format and he told we that HP media is even more locked down than usual for a proprietary machine.
