Made the switch to Mac--need a new printer! Recommendations?

Hi everyone! Been a long time since I've been on the boards, but I need your help.

I recently made the switch: I'm a mac user now. I'm loving it for the most part but my frickin Epson R1800 is hating it. The print dialogs are completely different and after DAYS of searching I still can't find ICM controls on the mac version of the Epson driver. So, as much as I loved it, I'm selling it and getting a different mac-friendly large format photo printer.

So, anyone recommend me a totally dope one? By large format I'm talking 13" x 19" -ish, maybe a little bigger, none of those huge ass ones that have to be wheeled around.

I have an Epson i9900 that I love though I don't know if they even make it anymore. Mince is 3 years old and works perfectly and prints perfectly. It can print 13 x 19, full bleed. Not cheap though.

Epson 3000 . . . looks ugly, but works real well. Check out screenprinters.net and look for a guy named Sigmo, he rebuilds and sells them.

looking for just a printer or for printing transparencies? If you are looking for just a printer check out a Epson 1280... they are getting on in years so you can probably pick one up cheap... I have one for the last 4 or so years and prints real nice... also has a roll feed option.

i was using a free, hand me down "Mac compatible" HP that was anything but. it was the most frustrating annoying printer ever. still have it. need to sell it. great high quality printer, just not for a Mac user. it could take 2 DAYS to print one film, totally thought that i was going to kill someone about 2x a week.

then, i sucked it up and bought an Epson Photo 1400 and life is sweet. 13x19 print size with no bitchiness.

Thanks guys! I really don't want to buy Epson just because of these horrible R1800 mac drivers. Are you all running Leopard? This is not just for transparencies--I have to make color-perfect mockups for clients all the time for my corporate bullshit. Anyone have a Canon they like? I'll go Epson if I have to, but I feel betrayed...

I have an r1800 and don't seem to have any issues, but I use 10.4. I like the r1800 for the true red cart. Try gutenprint drivers for positives.
