I just noticed that I'm only running at 1 gig, my lower slot reads empty, anyone else going through this? I guess Apple had some sort of recall on this, but it ended last July?

I had this same problem on my Powerbook G4 (2005). It's a design flaw that allows the heat generated by the computer to damage the lower slot, Apple will fix it no charge
(even without an apple care plan) the last I checked but that was a year or so ago. Moving the RAM to the top slot is a good temporary fix until you have time to send it off.
Same problem here
The free fix ended July 28, 2008... 8 bills for a logic board swap.
