In the PREPARE box, there should be 3 options...
Which do you choose?

go to preferences. select 'cds and dvds'

it will open a dialogue box

change it so it reads

when you insert a blank cd: open finder
when you insert a blank dvd :ask what to do
" music cd: open i tunes
" picturecdpen iphoto
" vudeo dvd: open dvd player

this will fix the problem.
