Illustrator CS3 problem

Hi all

I have Illustrator CS3 at work and I'm not sure if I did something wrong or if it's a setting I need to change. When I try and type I don't get the typing line (small vertical blinking line). All I get is a tiny dot but when I wire frame the typing is huge to where it goes off the page. It's not any place on the page I have.

Anybody have this problem

maybe the type size is set to some huge number that won't fit on the page?

i would go to the flyout menu on the type palette and click "reset character" or whatever it's called.

does this happen if you take the type tool and drag-click to draw out a type box? or just when you click on the canvas?

Just when I click on the canvas. For now I have to copy type from another page and paste on the page I'm working on. I'll try "reset character"
