Default computer to plate print - spot varnish channel

    Hey, hope someone can help...

I've designed a record sleeve for a client and am trying to specify in my pdf, areas that will be coated in spot varnish...

the printer is in Germany and although between us we are muddling through, the deadline looms dangerously and I'm not confident that I've done it right...

I create a channel right? I select the area I want coated and fill it black right?

the guy in Germany wants me to specify a pantone coated colour... I just want a transparent sheen

    can anyone help?

    thanks in advance GP

thats exactly what I did - you'd think the guy at the other end could get the jist - perhaps there are variables I don't understand
