DPI for Centimeters?

OK I know that doesn't make sense, but here's the thing - I'm prepping a pdf for a dude in europe someplace, and the file is a photoshop pdf saved on my end at 300 dpi (which isprobably wrong - it's 300 pixels/inch).

The guy gets the file and says "Hey Denis - it's like 100 dpi - shouldn't it be 300?"

And I check it, and when I switch to pixels per cm, it's like 118 (dpi?) which is 300 pixels/inch.

Is there something I should be doing, or is this one of those devalued dollar = lowered dpi in Germany?

ps: yes, I know dots per inch and metric anything mix like a liter of oil and a pound's worth of water.

DPI is DPI anywhere in the world.

If he says its 100 dpi - he means dots per inch.

118 DP CM X 2.54 = 300 DPI

2.54 is the CM to Inches conversion number. It's the same resolution. 300 DOTS per centimeter is amazingly detailed, considering there are 2.54 CM in an inch (300DPCM X2.54 = 762 DPI) .

I would agree, except that I know the file is 300 dpi.

so I think the "reset the metric to retard american measurement" email solved it.

And world, please accept my apologies on behalf of America and our refusal to use the metric system. God knows the scared the bejebus out us in 1974 about learning it, it just didn't take.

We all learned Metric in Cleveland in 1978 and were waiting for the rest of you. If you had been there you would have gotten an pencil erasure man shaped like a different piece of fruit for every right answer about the metric system you knew. (offer expired in late 1978 not valid in Youngstown)

i always worked as DPI. I don't know people who work at dot per cm. it does'nt make sense. why the guy don't work as DPI ?

I think his photo shop was set up in cm not inches.
