Howdy. I got up at 4:30 in the morning on Boxing Day to get myself a cheap external hard drive from Best Buy. What an experience that was!
Anyway, I was setting up this Cavalry Hurricane hard drive, and it turns out that there's very little info on setting it up for a Mac. And yes, I did check that it was Mac-comaptible before I bought it. Their website offers no clues either.
So, here are my questions:
1. Do you know how to partition/format a portable hard drive on a Mac?
and...
2. Are there any brands y'all can recommend that might be better? I've head good things about Western Digital.

I'm a Seagate fan. Anything but Maxtor. Pop the drive in the case, hook it up, open Disk Utilities, Erase Disk (Mac OS Extended - Journaled)... wait a few seconds, and you're ready to rock.

the western digital mybooks are where it's at. don't be fooled into buying the mac edition though. it's all the same.

I bought my wife a Cavalry for backup. Thing was dead within a few months. Junk.
I just bought a Seagate for the replacement...it has a 5 year warranty. Can't beat that.

Day after Thxgiving (AMERICAN THXGIVN, COMMIEFACE) I went to Best Buy at 4am and got a 500 gig Western Digital MyBook for a hundred bucks. Works like a dream.
