    Default Wide format Printers

At my job we use 60" wide digital printers. We don't go out that far on most of what we print and the printers they have know are not that good. After the New Year there looking at getting 2 new ones. There looking at HP and Cannon. The printer they have now are Incad and there Red is not a true Red and if water hit's them they drip. The people that sold them the Incad's are now trying to push Mutoh's printer and from what I have heard from friends there not very good printers. Do any of you use wide format digital printers or can you recomend a good printer. It has to more on an Industral printer. That will work alot

I have a mutoh eco-solvent, HP True Solvent and a Zund UV flat bed. out of all of them the Mutoh is the easiest to maintain and trouble shoot. I love it myself, it's a work horse.

Any problems with the mutoh is no different than any other printer (from my experience). Fuzz building up around the heads that will need to be manually cleaned off. Sometimes the heads clog and the self-clean won't be good enough to fix it so you'll have to print a solid patch of CMYK to blast them out.

The mutoh used to have a lot more problems before the last firm ware upgrade. The solvent in the hoses would dry and you would have to take a syringe to manually unclog it. But now it self flushes after sitting for so long and clears itself out. I know some people have had problems with printer heads going out quite a bit. But out of the 3 years I've worked with mine I've only had to replace the magenta. I think most problems people have with them is they don't take care of them properly. If you maintain it on occasion and make sure everything is dialed in it's a solid machine.

Hopefully this is kinda coherent. I'm getting pretty drunk.

Well the new wide format printers are in and we just had a week of training (more like 2 days) The rip they brought had problems and they switched to a different rip. We got a cannon and a mutoh (eco-solvent)
    MUTOH Spitfire

    Cannon IPF8000-S

It's a big change from how we printed before, These machine are made to stay clean and as far as the mutuch, temp. of the media is alot more important.

It does some amazing printing and let's you print on media that doesn't have to have a special coating like the printers we had before. Monday is going to be fun. In a stressed out, why isn't it done yet kind of way.
Because of the rip not working it made our training very short and there where still problems. It seemed like Corel was not working with the rip but,
    illustrator was fine.
