    Default adobe acrobat inquiry

    Attention Acrobat experts:

I have a pdf of a vector-based letterhead design and I need to add a blank text block so that when someone opens the pdf they can click in the main area and type a letter. Is this possible with Acrobat standard?

thanks for any help or smarmy comments you have to offer.

I'm pretty sure you need Pro to add text fields. I took a PDF into Acrobat Pro and added a text field and then opened it in Acrobat Reader and could add copy to it.

Reader doesn't offer any of that advanced mark-up/edit ding dong business.

    Is it for stationery?
Why don't you just export it to jpg/png, and place it inside a Word document?
    Way easier.

You can open it in Illustrator, edit it, then save it back as a pdf. (Or, if you have the ability to print to pdf, that would work better.)

Word is not easy... for me. Totally counter-intuitive in my opinion. That is why I am trying to make an editable pdf, because the graphics in the Word version of the letterhead print out in myriad horrible ways on all the various printers in the building for no apparent reason.

Lonny Unitus helped me make a working pdf. He has Acrobat Pro, which I think makes all the difference in being able to add an editable text field. Lonny is a smart cookie. Thanks dude.

    Good to know it worked.

In case you need something in Word in the future, great to use as a base:
