Has anyone had the problem with the late 2005 model of Imac G5's where every thing randomly stops responding but the mouse still moves? I'm forced to restart several times a day at random. No spesific file or program is open consitantly. Any ideas?

Are you using iTunes? Does the music continue playing?
It's probably a video card driver problem. The new iMacs are having the same problem.
You might be able to get some clues in your Console logs... In the Utilities folder... click the Logs button and poke around in there. I've never been able to fully grasp exactly what it all means, but it can tell you what program is causing the problem. I'd love to be able to say I knew what to do with the info, but it's at least good for clues.
When a song is playing in itunes, it will continue to play, but will stop before the next track starts...
um yes.
in my experience that happened for awhile for 2 reasons:
1. if i had iChat/chax open with Photoshop and sometimes (but not always) iTunes that happened for awhile but the more recent updates of chax (an iChat shareware app that rules) it's stopped.
2. i uh *cough* had a GIIIIIIHUUUUUUGE-ICK tiff that was like, insanely large and would flummox up my machine in exactly that way. once that job was done, gone, and out, i trashed that tiff and had no more issues with the freezes.
i like fun.

Try using Disk Utility, Apps>Utilities>DiskUtility select the name of your hard drive, usually "Macintosh HD" unles you've changed it, then select "repair disk permissions".
After thats done, turn off your iMac, then turn it on again while holding down Option+Apple+P+R until your hear the startup chime 3 times. Once you hear that, release the keys and allow the iMac to boot up.
Also, be sure you're emptying your internet cache. That can really clog up you Mac, too. In Safari you can just choose "Empty Cache" from the Safari menu bar at the top.
In Explorer its in Library>Caches>Explorer and just delte the contents of the folder.
Good luck.
