Default troubles with dingbats

pretty amatuer question....
i am trying to use some dingbats but when i switch from the text tool to the pick tool the dingbat changes, either to another image or to a square. Someone had mentioned to me that the image will still print regardless of the square, i ended up proving them wrong. any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks Simon.

Well can't help you with Corel. you should do it in Illustrator and.. guess what.... convert it to outlines. Indesign should work, what sort of dingbat font are you using? and are you using Mac or Dos?

In photoshop it will def work... you don't have to convert it either, cause it's a pixel based programm and not like illustrator vector based...
Just type the text or dingbats you need and render them to pixels it's as simple as that...

But if I where you, I'd get Illustrator aswell, lot of people here who can help you out with both Illustrator or Photoshop...

enjoy
