if you put a mezzotint filter on you get the lumpy dot effect.what kind of press have you got in behind that poster?

it's a 1978 "frenke" (German or Swiss manufacturer) solid as hell considering the volume of stuff it's seen going through it. I gotta re-weld some of the threading on the frame-clamp set up (I've been using bits of wood for the last six weeks to hold the screens in)
a complete overhaul is on my new x-mas wish-list...

and cheers! I'll give the mezzotint a go next.

My screenprinting teacher told me to use the bitmap>random dither to get the look I wanted, but I ended up using halftones since I liked that look better.

He did some 150 on a 150 screen mesh and it came out pretty good, with minor dot washout.

This was for tshirts, though, not paper.

My big problem with the Bitmap option is that it makes square dots. I'd like a filter that made round dots like the halftone filter.

You can choose round, square, oval, lines, cross, blue clovers and green diamonds.

I used the india ink filter for a metallic gold and the defusion dither for the dark brown and got this awesome looking sepia color for me detroit cobras poster.

That's on the Halftone one. Diffusion doesn't have any options.

I know how to do that magic.

I'd share but I enjoy when people get pissed that I won't and call me an asshole.

It's mindblowing simple and painfully obvious too!

I've tried doing it at half resolution and then converting it back, but then you just get misshapen squares.
