BURNIN'!
Anybody got advice on buying a CD burner for a Mac? I figure it'll come in handy for school in the near future. I've got OS 9.

The Iomega one rules but if you have OS 9.2 it wont work. You'll have to get Toast and dowload patches etc... CD burners rule though. The actual CD's are so cheap! Good luck on your purchase!

I have owned both a Yamaha and a Lacie and they have both done a great job. The lacie is like 200-300 dollars.

LaCie has always been solid. I've had problems with that Iomega one before. Spend the few extra dollars, you get what you pay for and all that.

Get one with Firewire, it's the only way to go, USB will just bog you down. (If your computer supports firewire) I have a LaCie and it screams and not an error yet.

I have an internal and an external so I can go disk to disk. It rules. I'm running OSX. Fuck, I just bought the most amazing all glass desk mfor my work station/ computer area. It's made from the old school kind of green coke bottle glass. It's all glass and stainless steel. It's all shiny and make's me feel warm and fuzzy.

You might consider spending a little extra and getting a DVD-R+/CD-RW so you can write the spectrum of optical media. You can put +4GB on a DVD and the prices have decreased considerably. Check to see what types of DVD media you need though. There is a big variety and not all types are compatible with various players.
