Default trouble printing films on epson stylus pro 7800

I've been using an epson 3000 with great results for a number of years, and we just got a 7800. I'm having trouble getting it to print solid blacks ( epson got rid of the backlight film media type, and we don't have one of those fancy rips ) Anyone using one of these? Suggestions?

Screenprinting is the only industrial process where getting ripped on the job is a good thing.

oh man. I was reading this book on screenprinting where they were saying that heavy drinkers and smokers run a much higher risk of problems due to inhalation and exposure to screenprinting chemicals. Not that I'm gonna stop, but... kinda sucky.

we just got a 7600 and had the same problem. you need to purchase a dye based opaque black ink cartridge like fastink.

I've had some luck getting it to work. I am not using a rip.

Matte black ink and a custom paper based on the "enhanced matte poster board" profile:
    micro weave at #1
    contrast at +25
    finest detail
    no high speed
    color density +50%
drying time per pass 2 seconds
    paper thickness 1
    platen gap narrow

we use a rip for our 7600 so i'm not two familiar with the epson software.

if they have a settig for a double pass set it so it does that.
