Hey guys, Darren here. If anybody is interested in entering a poster contest for Dionysus Records here's the story. I was going to do this poster for Lee Joseph (the owner of the label) but am unable to due to increased poster demands for some new venues I struck up a deal with. It's a good oppurtunity to get seen. The winner get's some swag (10 CD's of your choice from his roster). It's more of a cool poster project and it'll be seen by a bunch of people. Plus if he digs the art he could very well ask you to do some album art in the future and poster art. Here's the info for the poster:
"BIGFOOT LODGE & DIONYSYS RECORDS PRESENTS" CLUB 66/77 2ND ANNIVERSARY PARTY SEPT 26, 2002 FEATURING: THE CHECKERS THE VICE PRINCIPLES WITH DJ LEE SPINNING THE WILDEST IN 60'S GARAGE AND 70 PUNK! Here's what he wants for content: A very cool / groovy 60's go go looking girl with doe eyes and go go boots side by side with a punk rock guy. Not a Mohawk english punk but more of an American 77 era NY / LA punk. Skinny tie maybe, safety pins, disheveled but not too ugly or scary. 11" x 17" with a 1/4" border. Full color. Just do an illustrator file or Tiff, EPS etc.... It will be printed digital offset. Wassup Gooch!

On a related note, does anyone have the Beguiled's first album on Dionysus? I bought "Blue Dirge" a little while ago and LOVE it. It's swampy without being unlistenable(you can even make out most of the lyrics!) and has a lot of "primal"-sounding drumming in it.

d-man* i'd dig to do it but......i'd need some kind of commitment from the label for future work. i dig the concept ( and the party sounds great too) it's just that time/money are scarce right now. if you want to, please, pass on my 'gigposter' info. if the label likes what they see......

Scroj, this is definetely not a money type thing. I'm sure you'd nail it on the head, but as far as commitement he can't do that. It's just a good poster project / contest. I'd love to see what you would've come up with. This thing would most likely end up leading to some other work. But nothing could be promised.That's about the jist of it.
