hi loco. I'm right there with you - that's what I ended up doing to get the job done just a little while ago.

droid, tried that with no success. and maybe it makes sense - in the offset world, overprint means literally printed on top of (like rich black is cmyk on top of each other - unless I'm wrong on this. feel free to correct), so it follows that the halftone dots would be printed 'over' each other. Whereas I'm wanting a 'side-by-side' printing, so overprinting seems a dead end. Or, at least my rip software is only able to recognize the 'overprint' command in an offset way.

Sound like it's giving you CMYK seps instead of spot color seps. If I'm understanding you correctly

seems like printing a split fountain would be the easiest route to achieve the desired results, minus the halftone dots of course.

iron, the boss doesn't allow split fountains cause it messes up his inks and can't be duplicated exactly for large runs and also cause he's a bit of a stinker.

loco, the results are consistent whether using cmyk or spot channels.

I think this might just be the way it is with halftones.

Change screen angles of the Spots so they are 30° away from each other.
