Default Tiling 8.5 x 11s so they line up in Illustrator

I'm trying to print out transparencies for a print I'm working on, which is an 11x17 print. The only transparencies I have are 8.5 x 11, and I'm trying to print them tiled through Illustrator, but it keeps cutting parts off of the edges. Does anyone know how I can tile them perfectly? Should I print it out of something other than Illustrator?

if your print goes the full 11x17 you might need to tile three 8.5X11's so there's some over lap between them.

No, Illustrator is perfect. Right-click the hand tool and another tool appears, that lets you position the print however you like.
You can change from portrait to landscape in the print window; click 'done' rather than print to reposition.

thanks crosshair, I see that tool now. Should I set the tiling in the print dialog to imageable areas or just leave it at full page?

Here in example of how to print out of Illustrator for tiling. The page layout is 11"x17" vertical.
You pull out the "Page Tool". It's at the bottom left of your tools in illustrator. You might have to use the pull out. The "Hand " tool is defaulted there. Then I got to print and in Media box/ Orientation I swicth it to Horizontal and I move around in illustrator until it's like this

Then print it out. Move the "Page tool " down and print the other half of the page.

Just remember to print out all your pages in the same direction or they won't fit

this is not doing "borderless" (which means you gotta shrink it down a bit) .
but basically you tile it, scale it down a bit (i usually do about 95%), and adjust your overlap.
