Default School me on "non mac" memory

Hey. I'm sure this has been talked about before. But couldn't seem to find anything when I searched.

Anyway, I have a mac pro I've been meaning to add more memory to. I found this place Mac Memory - RAM and Hard Drive Upgrades for Apple Macintosh and PC - Ramjet, Inc. and the prices are waaaay cheaper than the "official" apple memory. anyone have any experience with non mac memory? cause problems? explode? or work like a charm?

As long as it's the right specs - should work - as far as I know.

I used to purchase all the computers for a university english department. i always bought the machines with the bare minimum of memory, then bought all the ram third party. I used to buy from crucial.com and a couple of other places that i can't remember the name of. never had any more issues with their ram than apple's.

Nice! So no ones had any weird problems? Does apple just stress how important it is to use only apple memory so people are afraid and pay the absurd price? Nice to have few options. Memory x seems good, but that ramjet spot brags about using certified heat sinks to prevent overheating. gotta do more research. any other info from anyone would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

I've been operating with the memory this computer came with for too long (1 gig! come on!) My plan is to upgrade the memory, and do a complete HD wipe by installing whatever the newest os is (I'm on 10.4, not sure what it's up to now) and installing cs4 or cs5. whichever I can get my hands on. I'm on cs3 still. An upgrade of this stuff is loooong overdue.

I've been using Ramjet for mac ram for at least 10 years and have never had a problem with them. Well one time the ram that i got was bad and the replaced it very quick and painlessly.

I buy ram from crucial for my mac - used it for years no problems. Just type your model of mac into their memory finder and thats it. I cannot believe the price apple asks for on ram, last time I checked it was insane.

Success! Got 4 gigs of ram from ramjet (roughly an 8th of the price apple asks for). been about a week and no problems. Installed snow leopard, cs5, feels like a brand new computer. I backed up all my files on an external hard drive, my only mistake is I forgot to back up all my emails. but if anyone is wondering ramjet=thumbsup.
