In Design HELP

I'm here at work. I get files sent to me that are zipped up. I don't work in "Indesign" and I'm
not sure if I'm opening the files wrong or if something is missing. I really need to figure this out.
I called a friend and he said it should work and told me to trying saving it all in one folder and try opening it like that. I think I did it right but still the same.
It tells me I'm missing plug-ins

It's either an incompatible (newer) version of ID doc from client, too long of a file name, or depending on what version of ID you have it could be the InCopy PlugIn.

I have seen this many moons ago, but opening files on a Mac.

I'd guess it's a newer version of InDesign than you have.

weird, i just went through this today. they resaved it the adobe bridge or something and it worked.

when i do info on the file type it says "InDesign XML Interchange" as the file type.

what version of in-design do you have? i have cs4, if you want you can send it to me and i will try to save it to an older version.

or i guess you could just have the client do that. everything else in the folder appears the way it does when you "package" a file.
did you check the instructions to see if they added anything there? (most people that i've worked with don't)

I just talked to the IT and he will be getting me the new Adobe Suite CS5. This will be an on going thing and I have to be able to open these files. I was able to get past this
