    Default Scanning negatives

Does anyone have experience scanning negatives? This is supposed to be a normal image and it's all distorted. Thanks.

Do you have a transparency adapter?

You need light on both sides of your slide.

Yea, it's an Epson Perfection 3170 with a built-in adapter. I removed the white pad and light shines through the top.

Unitus is right. Two things you need, to do it right and get the software to recognize the negative.

    (1) The Epson tray adapter for scanning negatives. OEM flat piece of plastic that originally shipped with it.

    (2) Remove the cover, INSIDE the top of the scanner, to reveal the light strip on the bottom of the lid. If your scanner does not have a light strip on the bottom of the lid then you can't scan negatives.

Without these two things it will be very difficult to get good end results.

I have that all hooked up. Is it possible that PS doesn't recognize the negatives?

Do you have the negative inside the plastic tray holder?

The trays would look something like this:
