i saw Grandaddy open for Elliott Smith in 2000, although I could tell they were pretty good, I wasn't so impressed that I had to buy an album. I guess I'll have to try this new one out.

I was talking to him at a soundcheck once, and a homeless guy came up and wanted talk to "Elliott Smith." I bit the bullet, and said "I'm Elliott Smith." The guy talked nonsence gibberish about a government check to me for like 10 minutes. Afterward, Elliott came up and thanked me for taking the hit.

I like it, but I really wish it rocked out a little more. I hate seeing bands that I love start to drift into "quietness" the more their careers advance (Yo La Tengo, I'm talking to you!).

There's no "Broken Household Appliance National Forest" for me to play air-guitar to, but it's still a nice enough album.

I love this album...One of the best I've heard so far this year. Yeah, it is sort of "quiet", but I like that.
It kind of reminds me of Flaming Lips "Clouds Taste Metallic"

They are playing in Madison on August 30th I think...I'm gonna have to check them out live.
