someone edited the entire album into an almost totally instrumental 14 minute track. listening to it now. pretty interesting!

I like!
this album really needed some harsh harsh editing. all the songs were like 3 minutes too long, and outside of the chorus of all nightmare long, pretty much needed to have all the vocals removed entirely.
yeah, i'm really digging this.
i almost agree with DD. some of the lyrics are pretty terrible. but that's my major complaint.
musically it had its moments. way too obviously pieced together in pro-tools, but not nearly as bad as st anger, which was an abortion that honestly should have all copies gathered up and sent into the sun. just a big sort of incoherent mess. but this one seemed a bit more focused and directed. each song easily could have had more than a few bars trimmed off, lots of pointless repetition. but any amount that it was better musically was ruined by seriously embarrassing vocals and lyrics. i was cringing at some lines.
but all and all, it WASNT TERRIBLE. which, after st anger, i was convinced would never happen again. however, SOME KIND OF MONSTER is still one of the greatest films ever.
listening to it right now, am 3 minutes into it and it's kind of awesome...i'm tired of singers.
because i hate people, I find that it's so fuxxing easy to hate on metallica.
It's like, all these people who aren't interested in listening to the record have spent a lot of time writing about it... paying attention to it. I don't get it.
enough!
I like it...long winded in sections, but that has been a Metallica staple since Call of Ktulu on Ride the Lightning...so it's not surprising. These are the best "RIFFS" they've written in years.

I like the new album, especially the first three songs on it....they totally feel like they could be B-sides from either Master of Puppets or And Justice for All.....glad the guitar solos have returned....
